RIHANNA GLAMKILLED IT
After two years of development and months of teasing, Rihanna’s debut makeup line Fenty Beauty is finally here. And I got the chance to review these products. Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is the singer’s much-anticipated make-up line, first announced back in 2016 when she signed a deal with the Kendo division of LVMH, which also produces Marc Jacobs Beauty and Kat Von D Cosmetics. On Sept. 7, Rihanna finally revealed her products to the world while wearing a yellow crop top and a ballgown-style skirt in New York City. Rihanna’s new makeup line truly has something for everyone. A broad range of items for different undertones and skintones, intense colors and finishes and the more subdued ones. I mean, she launched 40 foundation shades on the day her line launched while many already prominent names in the beauty-industry are still working on perfecting their formulas and expanding their shade ranges.
I got my hands on the duo highlighter Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby. The Sephora website states the following: “Weightless, longwear cream-powder hybrid highlighters that range from subtle dayglow to insanely supercharged in solos and expertly paired duos. Light up where you want, when you want. The Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter was born to reflect your every mood with its lineup of luminizing solos and duos. With a dose of skin-glorifying color, Killawatt ranges from subtle dayglow to insanely supercharged with shades that were designed for all skin tones. Unlike your everyday highlighter, Killawatt keeps your skin lit beyond sundown with its weightless longwear formula — a cream-powder hybrid that instantly melts into skin and blends with almost zero effort. Another win: it’s loaded with superfine shimmer for an ultra-smooth, creamy texture. For that killer radiance, the new Killawatt line is a great go-to for highlighter for your face, eyes, lips, collarbone… literally anywhere you crave a touch of light. However, the shades I picked out are more subtle and can be integrated easily into your everyday make-up routine. They aren’t as pigmented as the infamous shade Trophy Wife, the bright yellow gold highlighter that has been showcased and swatched on Instagram by literally everyone, but they have a soft feel to the touch and blender in beautifully. Swatching them myself, I have to say they apply much better when using a more dense brush. The longevity of both highlighters are great and they didn’t fade throughout the day. I can’t wait to try the Killawatt in Trophy Wife! Fenty Beauty is exclusively available at Sephora.
