LUXURY SKINCARE BY LA MER: REVIEW

RITUAL OF RENEWAL

I came home one day only to find a package by Estée Lauder on my doorstep. Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, designed by the celebrated makeup artist, was acquired in 1995, as Becca Cosmetics, Glamglow, Origins, Smashbox, Too Faced, MAC, Clinique, Jo Malone,… and La Mer – along with its original recipe. La Mer is a skin care brand developed by aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber. He formulated this cream to address his own skin concerns. Later on, Estée Lauder acquired La Mer in 1995. This gave La Mer more research and development resources. La Mer products are, as we all know, very expensive. La Mer is one of the most wanted anti aging creams on the planet. The heart of the La Mer formulation has nutrient-rich algae, protective antioxidant extracts and precious minerals in it’s formula. And I got the chance to review one of the bestsellers in La Mer’s range: The Moisturizing Soft Cream. Born from the sea, the legendary “Crème de la Mer” has the power to transform your skin. In only just a few weeks, fine lines and wrinkles as well as your pores become less visible over time and your skin looks virtually ageless. Even the driest complexions are renewed and rejuvenated. With this nutrient-rich “Miracle Broth” as Dr. Max Hubert calls it, your skin is immersed in moisture, any kind of sensitivities are soothed and both your complexion and your skin’s radiance are being fully restored.

The Crème de la Mer must be warmed up for a few seconds between your fingers until it becomes somewhat translucent and tacky, then it needs to be massages gently into your skin in circular, upward motions. This particular Crème de la Mer jar is a 7ml sample. The full size is widely available online in a 30ml tub for around €120. The cream comes neatly packaged in a box with the La Mer branding and product name on the front. The instructions are translated in five other languages. One side of the box contains a list of ingredients, along with a not for sale instruction. The scent of La Mer is apparent. It reminds me a little of Nivea’s products, more specific the one that comes in a blue tin. La Mer’s Moisturizer has this rejuvenating yet mild fragrance with a fresh hint of seaweed. La Mer is a luxury brand that is suitable for individuals who have healthy skin and want to maintain this. There are a number of unauthorized retailers selling La Mer products online, my advice to you is to avoid these stores as it is difficult to prove the authenticity of such products. Always make sure you purchase these types of luxury products from authorized sellers.
